Khor Virap Monastery
Khor Virap is located in the Ararat region, near the village of Maly Vedi. It is believed to be one of the sacred sites of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Legend has it that there is a deep pit here, into which Gregory the Illuminator was thrown by order of Trdat III for preaching Christianity. After many years in captivity, when Gregory the Illuminator performs a miracle and heals Trdat III from a serious illness, the king proclaims Christianity the official religion of the state. Khor Virap is located so close to Mount Ararat that it allows you to see its majestic beauty.
